You can upload and download device configuration templates by navigating to **System **>** Device Management **>** Template**.

# Template Configurations

The following component categories are available for selection. You can select a whole category, or individual components within a category, for download. Each category will show the list of component that you have configured or installed on the device. For example, the connectors category will show the list of connectors that are on the device.

- **Auth**: This includes configurations of LDAP/AD Authentication Providers. This doesn't include roles, groups, and users created in Belden Horizon Data Operations. See [LDAP/AD Auth](docId\:pkM74SqQ64ktB3MMyy9aO).
- **Connectors**: Installed connectors and configurations. Connectors with the same name that exist in both the template and the Belden Horizon Data Operations device will be duplicated with a unique name after uploading the template. The default connector that connects Belden Horizon Data Operations and Belden Horizon Data Manager is not included. See [Integration](docId:4EL15l5Em4xNuHiYfFW2x).
- **Country **configured for the instance. See [Change Country](docId\:Xxx3UwRZpVqHQsxTdC4jd).
- **Devices**: Connected devices, tags, and configurations. See [DeviceHub](docId\:jKLfSqJl8s4XnfrpDfH-s).
- **DNS**: Saved Fallback DNS Resolvers. See [Configure DNS/NTP Servers](docId\:vA-HuNwqw6p_PZeX9WxO1).
- **Docker**: Contains the IP address and netmask to use for Docker’s default bridge using standard CIDR notation. See [Applications](docId\:ldKfTUylIfzukZr66P4rD).

:::hint{type="info"}
**Example**: `"bip":"10.30.50.1/24"`
:::

- **Firewall**: Saved firewall rules. See [Manage Firewall Rules](docId\:hidOfex39BCe2ZiaWWvh2).
- **Digital Twins**: Saved models and instances. See [Digital Twins](docId\:gBo71OOwZ9gwaRC6H0M3E).
- **Flows**: Saved Flows. See [Flows Manager](docId\:GFfqhNUQlcx4axTjsyR8G).

:::hint{type="info"}
**Note**: When you upload a template, the existing flows in the instance are replaced with the flows in the template configuration. If you would like to ensure existing flows are maintained after uploading a template, confirm that any flows you want to keep are part of the template configuration.
:::

- **Analytics Groups**: Saved Analytics Flows and Processors within each group. See [Analytics](docId\:r1e91qV2DghU3PzGtN1K_).
- **Marketplace**: Installed catalogs and registries. Only applications deployed using a catalog can be part of a template. For example, If you deployed an application from the catalog, it is part of a template file. If you use the docker run command to deploy an application, it is not part of a template file. See [Marketplace](docId\:CU3yoITJtbgm7ZJgDCuBe).
- **NTP**: Saved Network Time Protocol (NTP) servers. [Troubleshooting - Time Synchronization](docId\:nTv2CXNA5qCO2CaHYTNWl).
- **OPC UA**: Saved configurations. See [OPC UA](docId\:HJ1XYBFTHR_aO7OztSm44).
- **Static Routes**: Saved static routes. See [Manage Static Routes](docId:829LAgELLhlO04VmpL6X9).
- **Timezone **configured for the instance. See [Set Timezone](docId\:Xxx3UwRZpVqHQsxTdC4jd).

# Download a Template

You can download multiple device configuration templates, selecting different configurations from a single Belden Horizon Data Operations device.

These device configuration files are then available on your hard drive for upload to other Belden Horizon Data Operations devices. The template files can also be uploaded to a Belden Horizon Data Manager to be applied to groups of Belden Horizon Data Operations devices. See [Edge Software Update](docId\:VNNHtRzlZ0zstljkmPDA3) to learn more.

You can customize the template prior to downloading by selecting components individually or by category.

## Before You Begin

To access the features on the *Backup/Restore* page, you need a valid license.

## How to Download a Template

**To download a template:**

1. In Belden Horizon Data Operations, navigate to **System **> **Device Management**.
2. Click the **Template **tab.
3. Select the checkboxes for the configurations you want to include in the device configuration template or select the **Select All **check box.
4. Click **Download Template**.
 The JSON file downloads to your hard drive.

# Upload a Template

:::hint{type="info"}
**Note**:

- If one component fails during a template upload, an error message will display and the upload process will continue with the remaining components.
- If you upload a template with the same connectors that are already existing in the Belden Horizon Data Operations device, then duplicate connectors will be created with unique names. For example, if the template and the Belden Horizon Data Operations device both have a MySQL connector with the name **MySQL\_integration**, a duplicate connector will be created with the name **MySQL\_integration (1)**.
- If you upload a template with the same device and tags as the Belden Horizon Data Operations device, any additional tags that are in the Belden Horizon Data Operations device but are not in the template will be automatically deleted when the template is uploaded.
:::

You can upload a device configuration template by navigating to **System **>** Device Management **>** Template**.

When you upload a device configuration template, it applies the configuration in the file to the Belden Horizon Data Operations device.

You can also apply templates to Belden Horizon Data Operations devices using Belden Horizon Data Manager, potentially changing the configurations for hundreds of Belden Horizon Data Operations devices.

## Before You Begin

- To access the features on the *Backup/Restore* page, you need a valid license.
- Download a device configuration template. See the *Download a Template* section.
